campare sizes: left: MBP 15″ classic, right retina 15″ 2012 – the effect: look for 5-10 Mins on the Retina, then check out any other computer (MBP, whatever) looks blurry, OMG. checked it all out, ..
mac book pro 15″ height vs. Retina: really thin! – try to shoot that display via iPhone ;) – and the ports (left / right: 2x thinderbolt, audio out, usb3 & power (smaller magsafe, cable goes sideways) —> SD Slot, HDMI and USB.

-> iOS6.. hmm, wondering why only 80% running iOS 5 to date, but – well, … Siri knows sports (incl German Bundesliga – hrhr) now Us sports to be clear since in germany it is still dull as hell – but nice new stuff is in here for us, incl. Siri on iPad , lots of features, so worth it. facetime via cell and unified iMessage via phone number (this has been annoying in iOS5). very cool new stuff in it, new maps with cool stuff (siri integration) and easier finding gas stations and turn by turn navigation .might kill navi apps, huh?, photo upload on safari, so helps a lot for participation on the move to anything, – great stuff. also passbook seems cool to get tickets and may help be on top of it all. coming autumn 2012, also runs on 3GS and all iPads from V1.0

expensive! 2.2kUS, but 8GB RAM (hey, apple puts RAM into it), 256GB SSD (not that big for the buck) – 2279€
2.9k€ – 2.6Ghz i7, Turbo 3.6, 512GB SSD, optional 2.7Ghz, no audio in as well, 2 mics, stereo speakers, so you need to get your RME or Motu connected via Thunderbolt Interface. note: no HD standard in here, no rotating parts, like a „new Air Pro“ .. interesting, since thunderbolt is fast as hell, there is ONE interface for Thunderbolt natively – UAD Apollo – all cool but very pricey over all. – the normal 15″ same configuration is 2.27k€
OS X Mountain Lion – more iOs kind of updates, nothing really important form musicians. looks like staying at Snow Leopard won’t bother much. Almost nice to have but nothing „under the hood“ kind of real OS things in here. 20$, so not expensive but Snow Leoparders: you will lose most of your older editors (Microkorg, etc..) – but it’s possibly from SL directly without going to Lion which was really not worth it. speaking as a musician – as a fan of iOS you might like to go to ML now if you are NOT depending on Rosetta (PPC Code)… because it isn’t BAd, it’s just more facelifting. – coming July 2012

Danach liegt das neue 15″ (schnellste Konfig.) gegen das Retina etwas weiter vorn und ungefähr auf der Höhe des dicken iMacs, jedoch unterhalb der MPs von 2009-jetzt, das Retina ist langsamer, sie haben hier aber das 2.6er genommen, das kommt also etwa hin.
Wer vernünftige Konfigurationen will, muss gut überlegen. Würde beim FW Adapter davon ausgehen, dass er laufen wird, die Frage ist eher was das kostet, beim Ethernet hält es sich mit 30€ noch in Grenzen. Ich finde bei nem Book Ethernet auch nicht so essentiell. Bei DT Ersatz wäre es aber ratsam. Das ist auch der neue Standard, der ist ein wenig schneller als bisher. Das gilt aber auch fürs Normale MBP.
Das schnellste 13″er ist noch nicht getestet, aber da es das nur als 2core gibt, wird es wohl für Audio und Co etwas schlechter abschneiden. Erscheint aber als guter Gegenwert,…
Finde gut, dass Apple bei den größeren Optionen 8GB verbaut, damit kann man ja leben. Bei SSD/HD ist man eigentlich zu teuer bei den Optionen. Vermutlich ist das eine Mischkalkulation über den hohen Preis. Ich sag mal eine HD plus 512GB LoProfile SSD kostet keine 900€.
13″ gegen Normales 15″ sinnvollste Konf – 1.55k€ vs 2.65k€ – Die 13″ zu den 15″ liegen im Vergleich 7:12 unterhalb der MBP Elite, also 1k€ mehr für gut 70% mehr Kraft und 4Kern lohnt für Audio mit viel Plugineinsatz definitiv.
Retina geht mit 3.1k€ plus FW Adapter sicher auf 3.2k€
habe immer die schnellsten Protessoren gewählt, macht idR Sinn für Audiokrams. Beim Retina keine 768er sondern normale 512er SSD, bei den anderen muss man sich ne SSD extern holen, das wäre schon noch ein Unterschied. Da gibt man die 500€ wohl schon aus, damit man eine schöne SSD hat oder baut das Opto LW aus und packt die rein, eleganter.
Vielleicht hilfts einem ja.
Das coolste Gadget wäre für mich das dickste 11″ Air. – kommt man auch auf 1.4k€ + richtige SSD von externen Anbietern wenn man es vernünftig konfiguriert, da zu wenig Platte einfach schnell nervt. Das ist also sehr schnell beim 13″er MBP preislich. Ist nur mobiler weil kleiner und für Audio natürlich nicht optimiert, aber es hat ja auch Thunderbolt und könnte daher ebenfalls verADAPTERt werden. Aber nur 2core und so…, dafür ultrasmart und hat sogar bessere Auflösung als das 13″er MB, was das langweiligste Display hat, beim 15″er würde ich immer matt-hiRes wählen, kostet 100€ und man ärgert sich nur, wenn mans nicht macht, da sinds 1.6Pix (sonst 1.4k). – aber das ist sicher nichts für Poweruser. Eher wenn man nur „mal“ Musikkram machen möchte und nicht so hohe Prozessorkraft braucht,
Also – das ist na klare Klassengesellschaft. Geil sind die alle, der MP ist noch nicht geBENCHMARKt worden, würde mich sehr interessieren, was damit geht.
